TERESA TEIXEIRA

Born in Lisbon in 1951, she later moved to Porto, where she remained until she completed her degree in Literature. It was during this time, and during a trip to Paris, that her passion for photography was awakened. In 1990, her professional projects linked to libraries and museums led her to return to Lisbon, and photography gained a relevant place in her personal and professional life. Always with a camera in hand, she walks around the city of Lisbon, observing it through the writings of her favorite authors, first Eça and then Pessoa, and creates her first photography project, which she publishes on her blog. Her landscape photography finds expression in Serra de Sintra, which has become her place of worship. With these photographs, she participated in an exhibition at the Instituto Camões in 2011. Her technical and artistic training ware deepened in Lisbon at APAF-Assoc. Port. Arte Fotográfica and at Atelier de Lisboa. She was part of the F4 Collective and with this group she participated in the first exhibition of Iberian Documentary Photography with photographs taken in the village of Peredo da Bemposta, Mogadouro and in the Transmontano Plateau (Retalhos do Planalto). With this Collective and another Association of which she is also a member, Portografia, she has regularly participated in several exhibitions since 2009 to date. In Porto she dedicated herself to studio photography, mainly portraits, and also to photographing artistic objects to create catalogues of visual artists. In 2017, she participated in the 2nd Gaia International Art Biennial. Some of her photographs have been published and sold in digital galleries, such as Getty, and in specialized magazines, such as Pelikula 2023. With Portografia, a photography association of which she is a member, she has an ongoing project, “Espigueiros”, involving photographic surveys in several municipalities and respective collective exhibitions, the last of which took place at Casa da Granja, in Amarante, in 2024.
